Hartford Township to Hold Comprehensive Plan Public Meeting :
Hartford Township contracted with the Trumbull County Planning Commission to design a plan that will guide development in the township over the next 20 years. The plan is in its final stages, and interested citizens are encouraged to attend a public meeting to hear an overview of the plan. A public meeting regarding the township’s new comprehensive plan will be held on April 21, 2014 @ 7:00 pm at the Hartford Fire Department. At the meeting, Trumbull County Planning Commission staff will explain the purpose and origins of the plan as well as discuss the different elements included in the plan.
Comprehensive plans typically include maps, charts, and text that analyze existing trends and conditions of growth and make recommendations for the general development of the community. Comprehensive plans also address several specific topics and include a future land use map. The future land use map depicts areas for public and private development and uses, including residential, business, industrial, conservation, recreation, public service, flood plains and drainage, and other areas. One of the main purposes of the comprehensive plan and the future land use map is to guide decisions on rezoning applications. The Trumbull County Planning Commission routinely works with the county’s townships, villages and cities, and is committed to collaborative strategies, plans and programs that improve the quality of life and economic vitality of Trumbull County.
